Hemp
This is not of what you could think (kind Hallucinogen) but of the same family. This sort of hemp grows almost everywhere in the region and was even "cultivated" at the beginning of the last century.

There were many inhabitants, at the middle-artisans, the middle-farmers, which left in the departments of the Doubs, the High Saône, in Alsace and to Lorraine " to comb the hemp ".This seasonal activity got organized from Oyonnax, team complete, with a leader and semi-skilled workers in each of the operations.
The culture of the hemp was common in the region and the weavers of Groissiat, Matafelon, Nantua made it sheets and shirts of an irreproachable quality, indestructible wealth of the domestic bottom drawers. |
