[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Photo prise aux alentours du Col De Rousset dans le Diois. Après une belle balade avec des amis et leurs enfants, j'ai proposé d'amener tout le monde voir des vautours. Certains étaient fatigués, d'autres, voyant la pluie au loin ont préféré décliner cette proposition. Pour les courageux, le spectacle était gratifiant, notamment pour les deux enfants qui se demandaient s'ils avaient bien fait de signer pour encore une demi heure de balmade sans garantie de résultats au bout! Heureusement, les vautours étaient là, en grand nombre et disposés à nous faire un véritable bal aerien. Un quart d'heure de bonheur et de silence en observants ces enormes oiseaux avant un retour précipité sous le deluge. Après tout, une telle observation se mérite! 400 iso

Photo taken near the Col Du Rousset in the Diois. After a splendid walk in the vicinity, I offered to take everyone top see the vultures. some were too tired, others glancing nervously at the advancing dark clouds overhead declined politely. What a spectacle for the brave few though, especilly the two children who started to wonder if they hadn't made a bad mistake in signing for an extra half hours walk without any garauntee of the end result. Fortunately the vultures were there in number and the offered us a real aerial ballet. Fifteen wonderful minutes silently observing these huge birds before a precipitated return in the pouring rain. Such observations have to be deserved!

impressionnant ces vautours...ça fait longtemps qu'ils sont au sud du vercors? on en avait vu quelques uns dans le valjouffrey un été mais c'est tout de meme assez rare, me semblait-il...
belle prise en tout cas où on voit bien les details de ce bel oiseau

This is a good presentation, Matt. I like the way you have chosen to compose this image, with the wide panorama. This wide format complements the outstretched wings of the vulture. The gray sky is somewhat ominous, and I think that's appropriate, as the vulture for some is an ominous figure. I really like the mountains in the background as well.
