| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Lichens are curious compound organisms, composed of a fungus which can only survive in the association, and an alga which is usually a common form, such as those that form green films on tree trunks or damp soil. The structure which results from the association of these two partners is quite unlike anything that either can produce on its own. Lichens are sensitive to air pollution and are therefore found mainly growing where there is clean air.
( I believe the species on this branch are;C. coniocraea, Hypogymnia physodes and possibly Evernia prunastri) |

Very curious mix of lichens. I like the way it's exposed: framing, sharpnes, contrast.
strange creatures.
