| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I shot this butterfly which likes gathering this flowers by flying (excuse my english...) as long as the sun shines.
i did'nt use the macro mode (it was too quick for me).
I think it is a hemaris but i don't know if it's a hemaris thysbe or a hemaris fuciformis ...
It would be nice that somebody specifies the name of this specie |

Nice close-up.
It's not easy to catch this in the air but you manage well. Nice colours too. I think this is hawk moth.
Well done.
I posted a similar for a few days ago, look here.
Hello Christine,
just discovered your posting of 2005-09-05 that shows the hummingbird-like habit of this day active hawkmoth quite well. Also the colours of the green scales and the reddish belt come out finely. The red belt is characteristic for "Hemaris fuciformis":
To verify the ID, please have a look at the following very helpful and complete site:

I think it either needs a flash plus high speed shutter to capture that hawkmoth sharply. Or to find it sitting somewhere in resting position. Best regards,
Peter
