| Bee beetle is the name given to several beetle species of the Scarabaeidae family, mainly Trichius fasciatus, but also for example T. zonatus, or T. abdominalis. The whole body is covered with yellow hairs,except the wing-cases (elytra), which have yellow and black stripes. They can reach about 9 to 12 mm in length. The larvae develop in rotting wood, the adults feed on blossoms. |

Agréable cliché pour cette Trichie à bandes. La netteté et la profondeur de champ sont bonnes. Les pétales sont un peu surexposés...

Great shot! Excellent composition, with beautiful detail and colours. Good BG - nicely blurred. For me I would have cropped it slighlt tighter but thats personal prefence, I might try a workshop tomorrow.

Where did you shoot this beetle?
I have daisies like these but have never seen this insect on the. Do these bee beetles show up while the daisies are in their prime, or once they start to stink?

PS I like the focus on the beetle; but would prefer a wee deeper DoF, which would include some sharpness of the petals.
