Interesting view of the bird, which you might want to try to sharpen up a bit more - I think, however, it was not quite in focus, or at any rate the shallow DOF will limit what you can do. Since it was probably standing still, you could have possibly got a better shot by cutting back the exposure speed and stopping down to increase DOF, assuming that camera shake is not a problem for you (steady hands or tripod.

Nice Heron shot, but as Alan has said the focus is soft. Also a shame that the legs have been cut of. Some post process work would have improved this shot. 2 points for a good effort.
