today my 99th image, and this week the 100th :)

you know it but i take a note :

CYCLE OF LIFE
The criocère of the lily spends the winter to the underground grown-up, buried state. Early in spring, he(it) leaves his(its) shelter to couple. To do it, male(mate) rock-climbing on the female. Insects can keep this position for hours.

The fertilized female lays approximately 300 eggs. It fixes them in bands to the bottom of the young sheets of lily, along the median nervure. A sticky substance allows them to like in place. The colour of eggs varies of yellow in red, by way of the orangy colour. They have the shape of a cylinder rounded off in the extremities and measure approximately 1,5 mm long. The hatching takes place after one-two weeks, according to the climatic conditions.

The head and the paws of the larva are black, and the rest of the body is yellow. Its anus is situated on the dorsal face of the body. Every larva wraps(surrounds) itself with a coat of mucus and with excrements which it enlarges during its growth, which is particularly fast. The larva moves with this shelter. She(it) moved twice before reaching(affecting) its maximal size, or around 9 mm long. The embryonic development spreads out over approximately three weeks

Before being transformed into nymph, the larva drops on the ground or lowers(goes down) along the stalk of its plant host. Its buries itself under some centimeters of earth after if to be freed(cleared) of his(her, its) envelope of excrements. The larva makes a new shelter by mixing some saliva and particles of ground. It is in this cocoon that she(it) is transformed in nymph.
The insect stays in the nymphale hull(shell) for four or five weeks. The adult appears then, towards the end of June or the beginning of July. The grown-up criocères begins to shelter in the ground to cross(spend) the winter from the end of July. They make rare on the vegetation at the end of August.

Hi Gaetan,

I really like this macro picture. As with all macro work the DOF is a problem, but you managed it well and the important part, the head, is in focus. Nicely sharp and good composition. Well done.

Jan-Hendrik
