A very fine capture of the the Peacock showing its dark underside. I like its pose on the grass and details are very sharp. Natural colours that stand out very nicely against the soft background. Well composed too!

Hi Pierre,

Took some time reading your intro and I noticed that you like insect micro. This is a new field to me and I am still learning handling the macro optics.

This is such a fine shot of a beautiful butterfly looking like our evening brown. The perch on that diagonal stem is stunning and you have perfected the capture very well. I like the shallow depth and how you have silenced the background here.

Another splendid macro from you and a lovely presentation of a butterfly.
I actually like this one a bit better than your other shot – the diagonal composition seem to be more soothing :).
Other than that, the rest of the qualities are still here – impeccable sharpness, parallel POV and excellent DOF.

Many thanks for visit and kind comments. It was a nice chance to meet your nice gallery. I think the composition of the shot is excellent despite the close (as you said) shooting distance. Inclined stem and image of the butterfly is well balanced. I also impressed with superb sharpness and details of the subject and nicely coloured smooth BG. Lighting is very good. And I suppose that flash use at your previous shot is perfect too. I also like use fill flash at macro and close-up shooting. My kind wishes and TFS. Excellent job.

Composition isn't too bad. I think I would take a little more off the right side which would be closer to the rule of thirds. On the other hand, the lighting is very good, and the plain background and its color work really well with this butterfly. The simple plant stem makes for a very effective image. Gary

Well, this side of the Peacock's wings is not as beautiful as the other upper one, Pierre. However, it has its own importance in documentation.
You have done a great job here with your 105mm. The details are very sharp and the colours true to nature. The diagonal placement of the subject makes this composition very charming.

The use of flash is a tender subject..when to use it and when to not..sometimes even in daylight its a good tool as long as you dial in a negative flash exp comp.
That said you have no flash here!!
You have cropped well and achieved very sharp well exposed details.
