What a funny portrait! :) I really have not seen this species in the nature but I had possibility to observe them in one of Polish Zoos. Nice, funny and very mobile creatures :)

What a beautiful portrait you've got here! With what have you bribed this guy to make him pose for you? He was certainly attracted by something in your left side. Very well captured!

Composition:

This is a very artistic composition, appropriate for such a close up! I appreciate the fact that you didn't include more empty space above the meerkat's head and you kept the largest space in font of it! The eyes of the meerkat are perfectly placed for a square format of the picture. A beautiful and blurred background compliments your shot and isolates the subject from everything else.

Colors:

It is very beautiful to see the same color hues in both subject and background! The low color range allows me to see the beauty of all those brown hues! The saturation is very good and everything looks natural.

Contrast:

The contrast in the subject is excellent to emphasize all those sharp details! It is also a positive thing to have low contrast in the background and a stronger one in the foreground in order to isolate the subject better!

Exposure:

It is useless to speak about exposure and camera settings since you nailed it properly! The details look excellent both in shadows and highlights! Even the reflections in the eyes are great! Very well done!

Focus:

The focus was perfectly achieved on the little guy's face! The relatively large aperture allowed a gradual sharpness fall-off in the meerkat's body and a total blur in the background while preserving the details in the face crisp clear! One can literally count the hairs in the fur!

A very beautiful square picture, well presented in a great frame! The notes are useful for those who want to learn and complete your post! Excellent job!

What a FACE!!!. This is a beautiful and cute animal Annick. I like this portrait a lot with excellent details caught and beautiful exposure. It almost looks like a pet that we can have home :) Do you know if there is a version of blue Mongoose? Lol! Thanks!
