| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French] |
| It nest in the foliages at the edge of water and defends its territory jealously, especially in period of reproduction. The male and the female, once the couple formed, remain faithful till the death of one or the other. The females can lay in the nest of others and the adults can adopt or remove the female chicks of others to raise them. The small ones are raised by the two parents. A couple can have four brooded each year, from May to September. The young people of the brooded first help their parents to raise those of the second. The chicks have a red zone of skin on the head; they are nourished by the parents until they learn how to find their food alone, approximately two weeks (wikipedia) |
