From wikipedia:

Trametes versicolor, formerly known as Coriolus versicolor, is a common polypore mushroom of the genus Trametes. Versicolor means 'of several colours' and it is true that this mushroom is found in a wide variety of different colours.

The species is one of the most commonly encountered polypores in Europe and is found practically all over the world.

The top surface of the cap shows typical concentric zones of different colours. Flesh 1-3 mm thick, leathery texture. Cap with rust-brown or darker brown, sometimes blackish zones. Commonly grows in tiled layers. Cap flat, up to 8 x 5 x 0,5-1 centimeters, often triangular or round, with zones of fine hairs. Pore surface whitish to light brown, pores round and with age twisted and labyrinthine. 2-5 pores per millimeter.

Kingdom: Fungi
Division: Basidiomycota
Class: Homobasidiomycetes
Subclass: Porinae
Order: Poriales
Family: Poriceae
Genus: Trametes
Species: T. versicolor

Hallo Nel,

Prettige avond. Ga nu een hapje eten. Groeten BOB

Hola Nel,
interesante colonia de fungis,
buen pov y espléndidos detalles y nota,
saludos

Hello Nel
A beautiful capture with fine details and sweet pastel colours. However I think is improbably to be Trametes versicolor for I know well the specie: it is mush thinner and has many definite concentric zones on the cap. I'm thinking of some Phellinus specie, but I'll try to come back with a more accurate ID, after some researches. For now I just put a T. versicolor photo in the Workshop area.

Cheers, Petru

Hi Nel,
I agree with Petru, your fungus can't be Trameter versicolor (Linneo 1753) Lloyd 1920.
Trametes versicolor has a thin section, not triangular as we can see in your photo.
Observation by Petru about lack of well definite concentric zones is good too.
The only species of Trametes with triangular section is Trametes ochracea (Persoon 1794) Gilberston & Ryvarden 1987 [= Trametes zonatella Ryvarden 1978] but it is different.
I think it is Inonotus radiatus (Sowerby 1799) Karsten 1881 or something else very similar.

This is an interesting colony, so well reproduced in this nice image!
Good details in the fungi, and the image shows the habitat well...
A fine and educational image!

Hi Nel.
Very nice picture of the tree and fungi. Cute subject, very nice delicate colours, perfect details. Especially I like well illuminated and detailed BG. All together they create a fine esthetic mood. Thanks and best regards.
Alexei.

Hoi Nel,
Groeten,
Niek

Agradables tonos y buena nota.
Un cordial saludo, JL.

Nel,
Great piece of work RE: notes.
Like the soft "pastel" capture of the colours; well contrasted with the bark.
Very sweet photo.
Mario.
