This big Apollon was seen in Bargy mountain (Alps) at 1600m altitude.
Scientific name : Parnassius Apollo - Family : Papilionidae.
Because of the pale colors of the wings, you can notice that this butterfly is old.

You and your Ixus is forming a formidable team. This is an excellent macro shot with very good DOF and sharpness. Thanks for posting

Beautiful detail, even the hole in the wing emphasises the delicateness of this butterfly

real nice capture, like the details here and the semi diagonal compo, the transparant wings are very unusual .. Very good shot !

Very good macro Christian.
Nice colours and good DOF with good details.
Well done

Christian, This is really an exotic one to me. Never saw this before. Details and sharpness are very good. Especially the hairs on the body. The blurred background makes the butterfly stand out like 3D.
Greetings, Jan

Very good shot Christian. You've captured it well he looks a little battle torn or weathered. DOF is spot on and you got the exposure very good too. That little IXUS is a good camera!

Otra excelente imagen.
Gran perspectiva, muy buena nitidez, con colores y profundidad adecuados.

Another excellent image.
Great perspective, very good clearness, with suitable colors and depth.

Nice and sharp capture of a beautiful butterfly. Excellent details and DOF. If the transparency of the wings is caused solely by wear and tear, then this is indeed a tough old battleaxe ;-))

Very sharp details. Good exposure too. TFS.
