Hi Orianne,
I have never seen a better picture of Xylocopa than this one! There are no disturbing reflections, the glossy black shines beautifully and the purple wings are splendid. Well done!
I don't know what the grains are between thorax and abdomen, maybe parasitic mites, maybe just wood dust (the bees are wood-boring!). Just note that Xylocopa is not a Humblebee (bourdon), but a bee (Abeille charpentière).
