Panorpa communis or Mouche-scorpion

Kind attracts attention in its vigorous "beak" and at the males, in lengthening forwards to the abdomen, in the form of tail or in pliers of scorpion. During the period of reproduction from 2 to 3 weeks, the male mates with different females several time.

It hangs on then at the end of the abdomen of the female with the gonopodium (abdominal pliers). The resembling grubs à of the caterpillars, vivent in underground holes where years feed on babies died animaux, various plant rests, fruits.

Poop delays poop the abdomen, grubs have four growths in the form of legs which allow them to hang on firmly to the soil and to stand up. Several kinds of panorpes are more difficult to differentiate, the exam of the stains of wings is necessary.
