Introduces in Europe for its fur, the coypu is originating in South America. It is also called beaver of Chile and myopotame.

This large rodent with manners amphibians can reach more than 1 m length. It is distinguished from the muskrat by its more important size and by the section of its tail, round in the coypu, it is oval in the muskrat.

Although its activity is rather twilight and night, it can have an important diurnal activity.
During the day, the coypu often meets on the trees or the watery vegetation of the edge of the banks. But, the true lodging of the coypu consists of a not very deep burrow built in the banks.

The coypu can reproduce all the year with 2 ranges per annum from 5 to 6 young people each one.
The females have the effect of having the udders off-set towards the back in order to be able to move in the aquatic environment with their small fixed on tétines.

I am surprised witht his animal, J.Michel already posted some nice shots and it is not shy at all, at least if you offer something to eat :)
I like the pose with half of the body in the calm water. Although the moody atmosphere is nice, I enjoyed trying to get some more details and contrast. Hope you like!
