Le Flamant rose (Phoenicopterus ruber) est l’espèce de flamant la plus largement répandue.
Deux sous-espèces sont reconnues :
* Phoenicopterus ruber roseus et
* Phoenicopterus ruber ruber. C’est un grand oiseau (120 à 140 cm et 3,5 kg maximum), proche parent du Flamant du Chili, avec lequel il est parfois considéré comme conspécifique.
The Pink flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) is the species of flamingo most largely widespread.

* Phoenicopterus ruber ruber.
