Photographer's observations
Here, this bird is not easy to catch, as it escapes quickly as soon as they notice one's presence. The coot doesn't fly very well on short distance. When escaping it looks like a strange hen running on the water, hardly supported by it's wings. This is particularly noticeable during the mating season when they run after each other. Coots only keep quiet at a safe distance, about 50 meters It comes very rarely on the bank for grazing as the ducks or geese do. It prefers aquatic vegetation close to the bank.
On a photographic point of view, it's not an easy catch either, as there is a strong contrast between the luminous white beak and forehead and the charcoal plumage. So, in the sunshine, like here, exposure compensation is necessary to avoid to burn the white parts. It's always possible to adjust during post processing using midtone levels to decrease overexposure. A contrast adjustment is made afterwards to equilibrate. Some color saturation was used here to give more presence.

I have tried and can't get a decent shot of this bird. The crests are either burned or the blacks without details. Very fitting title and funny pose. Well done.

Very good capture with its mouth wide open, great. I think that little bit open frame would work better, especially to the left.

Seems that you have some problems with taking that shot, but you've done it very well.
Good exposure and details, superb pose of the bird.
I like your note - it's much more usufull for TN members that just simple information about the species that everyone can easily find in internet.

Very good! I caught a coot in a similar ppose just the other day but it is nowhere near as nice as this one. Lovely capture of this 'barking' coot. Who was he shouting at? Very good work Jean-Michel.
