Here is another picture of the Coypu, taken at the same place than my two previous shots. At first he was on the riverbank, but when I came closer he ran away and sat down on the ice that covered the border of the river. There were two other Coypus next to him, but they were moving too fast whereas this one was sitting still. The reddish spot above his tail is the light of the sundown that was shining on his fur.

Very often, people confuse the Coypus with Beavers, but looking at the tail you can immediately make the difference : Beavers have flat tails, and Coypus have round tails, like a rat. Here you can see its tail, it's quite difficult to get a shot like this, because either those animals are swimming, or they are sitting in the water, so the tail is invisible.
Now, on this picture at least nobody is going to make the confusion.

If you want some infos about Coypus, you can have a look at my previous picture :

I hope you like it !!!

Hi Valerie,
das ist also eine Biberratte - kräftiges Kerlchen. Manchmal sagt man auch Nutria dazu.
Der ist wirklich süß, gefällt mir sehr, herzlichen Dank und lieben Gruß

Bonjour Valerie!

Another very nice shot of this big rodent. Good low POV, details and shining water in BG. Also copper-like colours of fur look great.

salut Val
Superbe photo d'un de nos " petits amis " de notre lac, très belle netteté sur son pelage
j'adore la compposition de la photo et le point de vue qui nous montre sa queue, une des seules differences entre ce ragondin et les castors
Merci pour le partage

Hello Valerie

A very interesting wee beastie.
The focus is sharp with wonderful texture and detail.
The POV is very good.
The fur seems a bit coarser than the muskrat from this side of the pond.
Great job.

Wonderful image Valerie,
At first glance I thought it was a beaver and then I saw the tail and realized I was mistaken. Very sharp and detailed photo with beautiful natural coloration. Great notes!! TFS.

Ciao Valerie,

Hi Valery

A very nice shot of this Coypu from that favorite place of yours!
The details on your subject are excellent and very sharp and the pose you've captured it in allows us to see its typical round tail.
I also like how its natural colors look against the those of the warm reflections on the icy water. A very beautiful effect.

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Hello Valérie,
A great capture of a Coypu showing it completely to include the tail with fine sharpness on the ice. The lighting was difficult, causing the ice to be OE and the coypu slightly UE, but it is a fine, well composed shot.
Thanks for sharing this,
Best regards,
Ivan

Salut Valérie,
magnifique "tir" (terme emprunté à la chasse: ne sommes-nous pas en quelque sorte des chasseurs d'images?).
Je t'ai proposé un petit WS.
Bonne journée.
Herve

Hello Valerie,
I like the unique POV, sharpness & details of the subject. The lighting & composition for the coypu are superb. TFS.
Regards-Subhash
PS: Now no cofusion with beavers :)

What an interesting critter, Valerie. I really like the composition here, too. I like the way his dark skin shows up against the reflective bg.
Mike
P.S. I love your region, too. Have a nice quiche lorraine for me.

I have been erratic in my appearance on TN in the last couple of days due to some pressing engagements, Valerie. That's the reason I failed to write my views on your recent pictures.
I begin with your second picture on Coypu theme.
This single individual looks so cute and innocent my heart goes out to it.
The picture is very sharp with lots of fine details.
Your note does explain things very nicely.
Thanks and I will look at your latest image now.

Hi, dear Valerie.
I see your neighbors are not afraid you and pose for you excellently. Despite the contrast subject you have exposure shot very well and sharpness/details of the animal are great. I also like perfect framing and composition of the image. TFS and best regards.
Alexei.
