BRANTA LEUCOPSIS (Barnacle Goose, Bernache Nonette, Brandgans, Nonnengans, Vitkindad Gàs)

This is a kind of love story I would like to share with you. This goose is living on the spot where I observe at least once a week aquatic life, mainly birds, amongst them some seabirds living inland. Normally this wild goose (protected species) should be now far North (European side) for at least 3 months, but it stopped here during migration and seems to enjoy ducks cousins company on the same spot. Unfortunately, it has no opposite sex companion of the same breed. This one is a shy animal, but I've noticed that when it leaves the bank, it goes round from one bank to another for two turns before landing, generally on the other side of the river. I have many shots of this cute heavy goose and it has become now a kind of game, as if it was parading each time I pull the camera out. It has a majestuous flight, less nervous than duck's flight, with slow wings movements. The important wings surface is important to travel, sometimes in bad weather conditions, for over 4000km every year during migration period.
