[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I am back from my 2-weeks holiday, with almost 150 "postable" pictures for TN. Here is the first of them, and I would like it to dedicate it to one of my first friends on TN, Mr Ram Thakur. He was there when I arrived, and his kind words, his pictures have always been present. He is a talented photographer as well as a good friend.

So, here it is for you, Ram - the beautiful mountains of the south of France.

I took this picture on the first day of our holiday. We visited a cave called Dargilan, and when we came out, we were standing in front of this majestic panorama. Down in the valley, very small, you can see the river called La Jonte. In fact, a long time ago, the country was very flat, but slowly, the running water was digging deeper and deeper into the stone, building up these strange landscapes. It's really a typical sight down there in the region where we stayed.

It was also very impressive to stand there and to contemplate this. You feel small and very humble, in front of these old and majestic stones, and in the same time you feel as if you were standing on top of the world, seeing the trees and the river so small at your feet. I could have stood for hours and hours, just watching the scenery.

I've had many many great moments and wonderful photo opportunities during these holidays, but this was undoubtedly the first of them all.

I hope you will like looking at this picture as much as I liked taking it !

Welcome back1
A fine view of this gorge in S. France taken from a great POV. The pink-coloured cliffs look spectacular and the scenery looks at there is a whole lot of wildlife to photograph.
A fine tribute to our TN friend Ram.
Thanks and have a good week sorting out all your pics!

Hi Val,
I am deeply touched by your dedication of this first picture of your trip to South France to me.
Thanks a million!!!
Your have described your impressions of this wonderful place with deeply felt intensity. Mother Earth has shaped herself in diverse ways and each of her facets has its own individual appeal. As I look down into that valley with your eyes, I'm standing in spirit along your side and sharing the same very impressions and sensations.
My students used to call me a 'Mountain Goat' whenever they walked the hills and mountains with me; I was a good walker and my first impulse on seeing this valley is to walk down it :).
I'm pleased to know your trip went off very well and you were able to take good pictures. I'm sure they would enable us to share your joys and thrills like this picture does when you post them in a travalogue sequence.
Great to have you back on TN and looking forward to those pictures with anticipated excitement.
Once again, I thank you for your kindness and warmth.
Ram

Hallo Valerie
Glad to see you back all excited with all the images you where able to capture. This is really beautiful and indeed striking. The wide open space captured is great to look at, so the rest of the elements of nature captured in this landscape. Is the Creation not awesome, here seen so well in your image? Just majestic mountains, the green valley and the sky filled with lots and lots of beautiful clouds. I am sure you felt overwhelmed when you witnessed this in real. Thanks for sharing this lovely piece of nature as part of a dedication. Best regards.
Anna

les couleurs sont superbes,le ciel bleu et le buisson fleurie a l'avant-plan rend la photo encore plus belle
Félicitations

Hi Valerie.
It is really majestic place and many thanks for sharing the impressive shot and nice note. Selected POV is wonderful and allows to see all features of the cave and mountains. Colouration, lights and shadows as well as attractive clouds on the sky create a nice mood may be similar to yours. My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei, which sometimes also cannot time for TN.
