BRANTA LEUCOPSIS (Barnacle Goose, Bernache Nonette, Brandgans, Nonnengans, Vitkindad Gàs)

This is my preferred shot of the Barnacle goose who « missed the train » to migrate back North this spring for mating and nesting. It lives with local wild ducks on the river. Needless to say that it’s not a regular host of our region, as they appear only during winter for a short period. I don’t know what will happen this winter. Will it join other geese on the Atlantic coast (Normandy and Brittany) and fly back North in spring, or will it remain here ? In the meantime, great shooting opportunities !

Hi Jean Michel,

This is a lovely incoming bird! Fabulous catch. Too bad the head is OE and the BG is a wee bit noisy. Other than that this is a very good photo. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

Bonsoir Jean Michel,
Bel atterrissage. Superbe composition. Bon contraste. Joli effet miroir.

Martine

The water looks magical. I know how hard this is, to expose this correctly in-flight is extremely hard.

Bonjour Jean Michel, bravo pour cette belle composition, l'attitude de l'oiseau est superbe. TFS Didier.

Nice in-flight Jean. Very well composed with good details and sharpness. Did you use a tripod? ;-) When I use ISO 400 I usually end up having to use a light layer of gaussian blur over the BG..Well done!

Very nice in-flight, Jean.
It's little OE in the face and tail, otherwise it's a great picture. Good action, nice colours, well composed and good details.
Very well done.

Nice capture Jean Michel. You managed to shoot a special moment: the landing. Good sharpness with perfect timing. The colours are very good. Maybe the light is a bit too strong. But very well indeed.

Très belle photo au bon moment, les ailes déployées avant l'atterissage arrosée.
Bien vue.
Nico.

Excellent picture and excellent landing, too!
