calopteryx splendens

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French] |
The body of the male is blue with on each four wing a large brilliant spot blue-black which characterizes its flight; the female is generally green-bronzes with wings without colouring.
It will be rather usually found May at September at the edge of slow running waters bordered of wet and marshy meadows. Its food is composed of insects which it catches in flight.
The larval stage of the bright caloptéryx is spread out over two years, whereas the life of the imago lasts often only two weeks. |

Hi Christophe, this is a nice way to show the wing patterns and the way the males display. It's a shame the head is outside the DOF but they don't sit with their wings open, so well done.
Hi Christophe,
A very nice capture on this damselfy. A great pose. I agree the head just falls out of the good DOF. I love the blue metallic colors.

Hello Christophe, Nice shot showing the male open-wing display very well. Great color, TFS!
What beautiful insects.
The blue is shining so great - very good shot.
I also like the sunlight, giving so nice shadow from the wing through the green leave.
Bye
