This was one of my most remarkable meetings in the Camargue in France..
We drove around the delta, and this peace of France is one the best kept secrets..
A lot of people know that there are “wild horses” in the area and the flamingos are famous as well. But there is so much more to see, a lot of different kind of birds and the landscape is very special as well. During one of our rides, my girlfriend spotted this stork. I was busy with making pictures of a hawk, and there this stork was sitting on the fence of a sort of podium where you could look over the camargue. It did not border there was a crowd of people around him… He only picked a bit when people tried to touch him.. I took my 50 mm macro lens out of the car and made some shots. After that we made a portrait with the stork and myself, you can find it on the intro page… |

Hoi Olger,
Het is inderdaad ongelooflijk dat deze plaat zo weinig kijkers trekt ... onverklaarbaar, want het is een hele mooie en aparte foto. Very close! I don't think I ever saw a Stork this close on a photo. The exposure is very good, except for the bright spot on his shoulder (right in the picture). I miss the catchlight in the eye (you could have used a fillflash) but the composition is great. I also love the strange angle you chose to shoot from; it creates an interesting POV. Well done & TFS!
Regards,
Pieter
