Pistil of Hibiscus
The Hibiscus belongs to the family of malvacées which including some 150 very decorative woody species. Girl of the Islands, the flower of the hibiscus rosa-sinensis is the symbol of exoticism.
It is particularly difficult to determine at which time the hibiscus was introduced in Europe, most probably with the XXVII° century.
In the tropical areas, some species of hibiscus are cultivated like food plants. The sheets can be consumed with the manner of spinaches; the fruits of the species Hibiscus esculentus are the gombos, vegetables common in the hot countries.

Very lovely, abstract image, Jean Luc! The depth of field is just right here, and I love the bokeh effect in the background.

Lovely shot, something for me to go and and practice. I can never get the correct settings, or maybe i am too lazy to get the tripod out, but its worth a try.

Good work, very nice and clear image.

J'aime beaucpup les Hibiscus, ce sont des fleurs magnifiques. Un formidable gros plan sur le pistil de cette fleur, qui nous montre beaucoup de détails. Les couleurs et la composition sont très réussis. Du joli travail !
Valérie.
