[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken close to a small brook in a ancient forest irrigated by small branches of Rhine river. These preserved forests are real sanctuaries for insects, amphibians and birds...

This damselfly seems to belong to the large Calopteryx family, but I could not find exact ID on species level.
Photo was taken with my Sigma 105mmEx macro lens. This time I used a homemade monopod (made out of an extensible tube of a broom, where I fixed the head of my tripod) more adequate for chasing these rapid insects. This damselfly nevertheless was very cooperative, sitting still every time a cloud darkened the sky, being off at the next ray of sunlight.
The fill-in flaslight was softened by a diffuser (cut out from a plastic jerrycan) fixed on top of the lens.
Levels were adjusted with PS. No cropping.

Good shot!
But, as Cosmin Manci wrote, it's not from the Calopteryx family.
Pity the photo did not show up all the body of the damselfly.

Hi Patrick, nice shot especially for 1/100 s. The focus is good except for the head which seems to have slipped oout of the DOF. As for the ID it's definitely not of the Calopterygidae faimily. It's hard to say what it is exactly. I'm not sure it is a member of the Platycnemididae family though.

a good effort on this capture of the dame. Excellent POV.
I find the image flat. Gert's postings show that the DSLR images need a slight tweek in the USM and Contrast departments.
I did a workshop for you for an example.
