Young Common Moorhen(Gallinula chloropus)

The young moorhen has, contrary to its parents, a brown plumage from light to darkest. And above all, it lost the red zone which it had on the head at its birth. It will find this red in the shape of an facial shield, as well as a yellow beak when it is adult.
The parents and the young of the first litters take care of the chicks during sometimes 6 weeks. The young moorhens are independent towards 3 or 4 weeks.

Hello Jean-Patrick, nice composition of this juvenile Moorhen. It's funny how as chicks they have colour then they lose it and when adults they develop colour again.

I think we are getting somewhere with your focussing issues here. If you look at the birds lower brest and wing that area is in focus. The head and the top of the body are slipping out of focus. I think you need to find out where the camera is directing it's focus. Perhaps you can change the focussing mode from multi point to a single point.

Hi Jean, I've never seen a moorhen at this stage of its life. Well spotted and captured. A lower POV would give a more intimate shot but that is easier said than done as I know from my own experience. Nice exposure and good details. I like the way you can see the feet through the water too. Nicely done :)
