Swallowtail butterfly

black and creamy-yellow with red-and-blue false 'eye'. Extensions on hind-wings. Caterpillars are green, black and orange.

Caterpillars will only eat the foliage of a group of plants called umbellifers - a group that includes carrot, fennel and angelica, but they show a marked preference for milk parsley. Adults feed on nectar from a variety of flowers.

J'aime bien cette composition assez simple et la qualité de l'image est tout à fait remarquable !
Il y a juste les couleurs du cadre qui me gènent un peu.

This is one of the best caterpillar shots I've seen for a long time.

I would have made it slightly diagonal for effect.

Very nice shot Laurent. The colours are beautiful. It's a great looking caterpillar, almost as nice as hte adult! I'd be tempted to give a little more space to the front of the insect and put it on a diagonal.

Voilà une très jolie chenille que l'on ne voit pas souvent, couleurs magnifiques et tous les détails sont là, bravo aussi pour le cadre qui est en harmonie.

Excellente macro!

Techniquement la mise au point et l'exposition ne peuvent être meilleures.

Artistiquement le cadrage est adéquat bien qu'un peu au centre, la PdC est superbe, le paralléllisme entre le plan du sujet et plan film, que dis-je le plan du capteur est très judicieux. Et la palette de couleurs pastelles en fait une image très douce.
