welcome Don on this fantastic site, where you can learn when you want.Okee, your first shot. As somebody who made some butterfly shots I give you some critique. The composition is bad. The pov is good and the dof is great, the colours are fantastic. If you had a good composing shot, this had been a super shot. By a better composing shot I mean the pose of the butterfly. Farther an exelent first photo. Good job,

Very good photo of a Nymphalidae!
Great details of the wing!
I think it's an Argynnis pandora ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775).
Also common in Portugal.
