ISCHNURA ELEGANS - Blue-Tailed Damselfly (En) - Agrion (Fr).
---------------------------------------------
I don't think it's necessary to precise this is a mating pair.
Widespread and common species, flying from May to early September. It is not choosy as to habitat, though it prefers lakes and ponds, being less common on flowing water and in exposed and upland sites. It can also tolerate some salinity.
Females occur in a variety of colour forms, according to their degree of maturity. They can show a violet thorax, a reddish-pink thorax or a yellow thorax. Males show always the blue color you see here on top.
Sometimes, the shape designed by the mating pair shows an upside-down heart.
Between the river Epte, and the marsh where I find most of the insects of my gallery, these are one of the two damslflies species available, the other one being the Calopteryx Splendens.
---------------------
Not too difficult to shoot, as they were quite busy, but when they move, they fly together like that.

Wonderful composition and background that really show off the two dragonflies beautifully captured. Congratulations and TFS. : )

Very nice work Jean Michel! Delicate composition and BG colours, good sharpness. But first of all great moment to capture!

C'est bien, Jean-Michel. Bonne composition.

Hello Jean!

Jean-Michel, it's always nice when we have the chance to take some photos of these guys.

Great pov and composition.

The only change I would have made would be to clone out the reed on the right, but that's just an opinion.

What a lovely capture!
Appart from the super subject, I like very much how the different volumes are distributed in the frame, and the "reverse" BG., lighter where it is usually dark, and darker where it usually light. It makes a sort of 3D effect. Good PP work. Great post.
