I was running a long time before shooting
this peacock which is a common but always spectacular butterfly

Flight Time: June-August and Spring after hibernation.
Size: 54-60mm
Altitude: 0-2500m

This goes to show the most familiar of species can often be amongst the most spectacular. Peacocks can be seen commonly in the UK and most of Europe. They hibernate as adults so they are often on the wing early in the Spring when there is any hint of warmth in the air. This is one of the first photos I ever took of a Butterfly, nearly ten years ago now.
