A Fly agaric, photograph taken within the Vosgean mountain, in the North-East of France.
The Fly agaric, Amanita muscaria, is a mushroom hallucinogen pertaining to the family of Agaricacées (like cultivated mushroom "champignon de Paris"). It is largely widespread in the northern hemisphere until very septentrional latitudes and 2 100 meters of altitude. It pushes in the underwoods, in particular near the birches and of conifers with which it forms mycorhizes. In Western Europe, one finds it from the end of August to the end of November.
Its name comes from the Greek Amanos, a mountain of Cilicie where it was abundant. It is easily identifiable with its red hat, convex, of ten centimetres in covered diameter of small white warts become the symbol of mushrooms. The foot of white color finishes at the base by a round bulb surrounded of pads and carries a ring. The human communoty exploits since remote times his properties hallucinogens to modify his conscience during ritual shamanism.

Welcome on TN Zedelf. Looks like something from a fairy tale. Very nice colours in this fungus. Pity with the straw in the front - You should have cut it before taking the picture. OK, I know that one first see this back at the computer - like myself;-). I think it is possible to clone it out so I dared to make a WS.
