English name : Chicken mushroom – Scientific name : Leatiporus sulfureus - Edible : yes.
---
Description : During a bicycle run along Annecy Lake, my wife noticed this funny mushroom coloured on the trunk of a large oak. When this fungi is young it is yellow sharp and orange towards the fixation on the tree, its flesh is soft and edible. Into growing old it becomes grey, the flesh hardened like chalk and loses its edibility. You can find it in height (2-3m) on the trunks of the trees which it parasitizes dangerously. Size : 10 to 50cm. It is not eaten in France but it is appreciated in North America.

Photo : Cropped and resized and framed in 800x600 for TN. Camera Canon IXUS 400 - Iso 100 - Aperture f2.8 - Speed 1/30 - Focal 36mm - Mode macro.

Hello Christian,
What a wonderfull photo of this colourfull mushroom. The exposure on the subject is spot on, you've exposed well despite the blown out sky! I like the detail on the tree in the lower right corner as well. Best regards,
Mike

il est apprécié en Amérique... J'aimerais bien savoir pourquoi. Ah!

Votre femme a bien vu. Je suppose que maintenant elle ne pourra plus dire plus que vous passez trop de temps sur TN :-)
Amicalement
Jean-Michel

Quite an ugly fungi Taz, but well captured. Nice and sharp and with good colours. A good job!
Sa "Hi" to Lake Annecy for me. It is a beautiful place to visit, and one of my sons has named his boat Annecy after having wonderful holidays there.

I never tasted this one before. Very pretty!

Christian, another beautiful capture.

Perfect sharpness, great colors and excellent pov. Maybe I'd try to clone out the bright spots on the bg, but it's just an opinion.

Hello Christian,

I like this tree-funghi. Very crazy looking, but beautiful.. Exellent shot.

Have a nice Day!

Martina

A great capture of this 'chicken of the woods'. I really like the way this one is growing, it's almost pouring out of the tree like solidified lava and the orange is so vibrant. You can tell this is incredibly fresh.
Great work, thanks for posting.
