Note : I have made this macro of this Oedipoda germanica during a trek from Chinaillon at about 1400m altitude.
---
Common name : Grasshopper – Scientific name : Oedipoda germanica – Family : Acrididae.
---
Description : Grasshopper are herbivorous insects (size : 35mm) which can jump long distances with their powerful hind legs and most are also capable of flight. They make noise with their back legs. These insects are divided into two groups: grasshoppers with long antennas and locusts with short antennas.
---
Photo : Slightly cropped, resized and framed in 800x600 for TN.
It is the first time I see this grey species, this guy wasn't shy and when he flies, his wings are red.
Philippe Moniotte found the ID, thanks to him !

Hi Christian,

Blue-Winged Hopper? hope this leads you somewhere.
Excellent shot and well done on the composition and details.

Mike

Hi Christian,
it doesn't matter how the name is, the important thing is the wonderful quality of the shot. The colours are beautiful, just like a good camouflage a grey hopper on a grey stone. The sharpness is perfect, thank you very much.
Today we are neighbours in the priview, bye

Merci Christian. Bonne semaine!

Even without your usual bright colors this is still very nice, Christian. A very interesting specimen and what I find the most interesting is the fact that you give the altitude at which you found it. Nice touch. Well done.

Οξύτητα πολύ καλή, σωστό βάθος πεδίου, ίσως θα ήθελε λίγο διαφορετικό κάδρο με περισσότερο αέρα μπροστά. (GR)

Hi Christian,
very good macro, good capture. I like the sharpness and colours. Unusual hopper. Well done.
Rgs, Aleksander

Another excellent capture, Christian. The color on this species suggests it lives in a more barren environment than the more familiar green species.

great composition and very sharp throughout the range. How do you get your photos so sharp?

Regards,

Tom

Really great photo. Couldn't be any sharper. Capture, POV and lighting all were perfect.
TFS
