Scientific name: Buteo buteo
Identification: The most common raptor of Central Europe. Compact stature, with a round head and a rather short tail. As its name indicates it, plumage with the very variable colors, generally brown dark with the mottled lower part of white. The nozzle is curved as of the base. Similar sexes, the female being a little larger than the male.
Habitat: All types of timbering since the small thickets of the fields to the forest alluvial. Locally marrais and rock coasts.
Behaviors: This raptor hunts in open zone and prefer to be put in ambush on a tree, a stake of park or with ground, and to wait, with patience, until a prey passes to their range. At the time of first frozen, they approach the dwellings of our campaigns.
Flight: They are recognizable with the flight by their silhouette when they plane in circle during hours. Broad tended, slightly raised wings and a broad round tail, very short neck. Rather heavy flight sometimes on the spot beaten.
Nesting: They nest on the trees raised in the forests, either in the plains, or in the mountains, or in the medium of undergrowth among the rocks. Nourishes primarily micro mammals, more rarely of levrauts, birds, reptiles, batrachians, insects and sometimes of cereals. In period of shortage, also of carrions.

Hi Didier,
the strange pink colour in the birch on the left is a bit distracting.
I like the composition with the bird shown in its habitat.
The composition and the yellow colour draw the main attention to the massive claws, apt as this is the raptor's main tool.
Well done!
Regards,
Gabi

Wow, cet oiseau est quand même impressionnant. Il semble passablement imposant. Les arbres forment des diagonales intéressantes. Bravo.

Hi Didier,
I gotta agree with Gabi that the Pink tree in thr foreground over powers your great shot of this raptor. The colors, detail, pose, and DOF look good.

Nice shot Didier!
It's maybe not perfect technically, but the POV and framing are great. Interesting subject too.
I like it very much.
WELL DONE & TFS

The pinky branch on the left is a bit distracting, but its nice to see this raptor in in natural environment. Great composition apart from that branch. Well done.

Didier, maybe, there are too many elements on the picture, but, apart from that, it's a beautiful raptor.

I like composition and pov.
