Le syrphe manche à air est un diptère (ses deux ailes arrières sont remplacées par deux batonnêts ridicules).
Comme tous les syrphidés, c'est un roi du vol stationnaire, les ailes battant si vite qu'on ne les voit plus.
Il fréquente les ombellifères, où il se nourit de nectar.
On reconnait cette espèce au dessin abdominal :
Toutes les bandes jaunes sont entières, sauf la plus proche du thorax.
Les deux tâches ainsi formées sont arrondies.
Sur ce cliché, il s'agit d'un mâle : les deux yeux se touchent.

Image recadrée, niveaux auto, saturation légèrement augmentée, accentuation et Neat image.

This is a brilliant macro Sebastien! I know, it's a long time ago since you've uploaded it but I just had to critique it. It's marvelous. The details are razordharp, the colors are perfect and the composition is excellent. I like the BG also. Very well done and TFS!

A very special shot of this insect busy at work. The colors and textures of the flowers provide a lovely backdrop to the bee. The wings are so clear and sharp. Just lovely!
