CORTINARIUS COLLITINUS - Cortinaire collant (f).
This one has a quite gelatinous sticky cap, up to 10cm diamater, orange/brown. Gills are thin, pale ochre color when young, then with a rusty color. Stipe is more characteristic: long, thin, stiff, fluffy and sticky. When adult, the stipe shows gluy bracelets. Very common species, growing in autumn under leafy trees as well as under conifers. Not toxic, but with no gustative qualities.
------------------------------------
Fungi in the woods are generally not easy to photography without using a fill-in flash and medium speed. My favorite choice, though, is a tripod or a beanbag on the ground, and a low speed, to keep the original environment intact. In a deep forest, ideal conditions can be found during the brightest hours of a sunny day, on a subject or (better) a group of subjects litten by a natural sunbeam. It was the case here.
-------------------------------------
Photoshop : brightness -10, contrast +10. Selective sharpening under the cap of the highest fungus. USM (100-1,2-0). Cropped to an almost square section, light white frame. Converted from TIFF to JPG when reducing to TN size.

Nice shot Jean Michel. Its funny...I usually try to take my forest pictures on overcast days. I find the bright light coming into a dark environment creates too much contrast.
Most of my shots are taken in natural light (no flash) but on darker days.

Me gusta... definitivamente.
Buen trabajo.

I like me... definitively.
Excellent POV Jean Michel that allows us to enjoy an image very good sharpness and details of the fungi.
The illumination contributes a very pleasant effect.
I would only criticize the use of F2.8 in this case... do you can explain the reason to me?
Good job.

Very nicely done Jean very well seen and controled, the fungus is good and sharp and the BG is also well exposed without Highlights to distract the eye.well done.

It's a very good composition with good notes also. Great job.

Nice perspective and POV. The details are sharp and the use of light excellent. Well done.

beau détail des lamelles, la prise du vue est vraiment originale et plaisante, bonne lumiere et bon travail sur photoshop. Very great shot Jean Pierre

The low POV give to this photo another atmo! Very fine job!

Great picture, nice perspective and POV.Very good sharpness and details. well done!

Nice post, Jean. Very good POV and good composition. I can see the F-717 signature on this one ;-)
Please allow me two recomendations:
1º next time, appart from trying this aperture, make another shot forcing to F8 to compare the DOFs.
2º rainy and overcast days are wonderful to shoot fungi, with a minitripod or the beanbag you will have no problems with long exposures and you will get very controlled details.
Greetings, Felipe.

Jean Michel, I've been trying to find one of these, but, so far, I wasn't sucessful.

Excellent POV and composition, as well as great job on PS.

Jolie prise de vue pour ces beaux champignons. Belle luminosité et composition.
Well done !

I dearly love mushrooms, Jean Michel. I once had a goal to photograph them as a sort of collection, but kind of lost track of it. Now I can see so many on TN! The depth of field and colors really make these look special. Your point of view from under gives them a majesty that is so unique and fun.
