This picture was once on TE, now it has its place on TN.
[I have made a crop and run it through NeatImage]

After visiting La Roque Alric in the heart of "Les Dentelles" - Vaucluse. (Moutains in lace), we stood under trees which were left nude by the heatwave of this summer, and seeing this insect I thought it would please Dominique & RobBrown of course... I've searched the Net to find the appropriate name and I think it could be Sympetrum striolatum.

Après avoir photographié le joli village de La Roque Alric, nous nous sommes arrêtés sous les arbres denudés par la canicule de cet été, et voyant cet insect j'ai tout de suite pensé à Dominique. J'ai cherché un nom sur le Net et Sympetrum striolatum ou Sympétrum à côté strié me parait celui de cette libellule.

Une bien jolie photo, Viviane.
Les couleurs, la mise au point et la composition sont très réussies.
Je suis ok quand à l'identification.

Nice sharp image, good contrast against the sky and fine composition. Even the dragonfly was pleased - it's waving! :-)

Excellent capture Viviane. This is a very difficult one handling the light with a clear blue sky as background, but you managed very well. the sky really sets him off and I love the simple but effective composition - a great job.

Very nicely seen against the blue sky one leg a lttle blurred where he wipes his eye to keep it clean.
The ID looks good to me .

You have a nice, clean BG, this is great. The d'fly is just a tad soft in the picture - maybe its the bad screen here at work, some fill flash would help to give more definition to the body and help freeze it too. I would also crop a we bit tighter, but that is just my opinion. You can also rotate the frame slightly in PS to get more of a diagonal which will add impact to the shot. Just some pointers to enhance your picture.

Belle photo, mais au contraire ce que dit la pluspart des autres ici, je ne trouve pas l'insect net à 100%. Dommage, comme c'est un beau motif en soi. Peut-être que c'est mon écran qui n'est pas bien équilibré. Tu crois que la photo serait comment si le motif était placé dans une coin à la place d'au milieu? Je pense que ca donnerait encore de profondeur à la photo.

I can see, it is dragonfly time and you seems to be on holliday in France! (or returned already).

Those insects are like artists in the circus of nature. (maybe a nice idea for a new them?)
