| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French] |
Also called bright Caloptéryx, it is largest of the young ladies. The males have territories of hardly 3m², around the brooks and rivers with low flow, especially those with the sandy basement. They defend of it the entry with any other male of their species, fluttering like butterflies. At the time of the appearance of a female, the male carries out a characteristic bridal parade: it flies on the spot, its wings carrying out of the helicoid movements, then shows its specific abdominal spot which is used to some extent as sign of recognition.
With the end of the coupling, the partners separate, after which the male shows with the female the place where it must lay: they are watery plants on which it is posed before inserting its eggs in pieces of plants swimming freely. The night larvae develop in two years, while the adults live only a few weeks.
Sensitive to the quality of water, the species rarefies because of pollution.
Characteristics:
length 50mm, 70mm of scale. Male impossible to confuse (band blue-black of the wings caract.) The wings of the female are entirely greenish.
Medium:

Hi Christophe,
Well composed, and I like your POV.
Good detail, nice color, and exposed well.
From my experience, when you get down to this s-speed, a tripod or support is needed to get the degree of sharpness you're after..
Well done and TFS!
