Hi Valerie,
If you have to study a lot, do not think you are silly! A camera is not a world: is an universe. In fact, you got some noise and overexposition and the focus is not perfect :-) I see clearly that you are fighting with the camera. I'm sure that soon you will post astonishing photos, knowing the quality of the photographer.

Wonderful colours and detail! The noisy BG is the only detraction - I've done a quick workshop with neat image to remove the noise. Enjoy the new camera!

Very nice shot concidering that these are first tries with new cam. Picture has good details and nice colours. As for the ID, I'm sure this isn't a honey bee. Could be a solitary bee.

Hi Valerie
This is well done for one of your first shots with the digital SLR. It is a very intimidating camera at first and it takes time and lots of practice before you actually becomes friends. However I am sure we will still see many beautiful shots from this camera in time to come.
Probably one can see that this was shot in full auto mode, but it still is a good photo. Great composition, lovely colours, excellent BG, and great exposure.

Hi Valerie,
Great to see that you bought the EOS 350D. That is a beautiful photo for a first try with your new camera. I started of the same way, but soon switched over to the P mode, where it letts you control the ISO. Later you can then go the the time and aperture modes. It took me a whole bunch of photos to get a feel for the camera, and after 6 mounths I am still figuring out some parts of the menu. Just play with it and have fun.

The colours are great and your camera delivers them nicely... DOF is nice, bit noisy background but that may occur in post processing!

Very nice composition, Valerie! I´m happy to see this wonderful and colourful shot, because I´m seriously thinking to buy an XT and I was a little bit afraid of this lens! It´s nice! The sharpness and lights are great!
