I found these beautiful flowers on the border of a meadow, quite far away from any village. It was very hot and there was harsh sun light, but these flowers were in the shadow of a small bush. Their bright color immediatly caught my attention.

I don't know the exact name of this flower. I'm hesitating between 3 species :
- Lathyrus sylvestris
- Lathyrus heterophyllus
- Lathyrus latifolius

Family : Fabacea
Sub-family : Faboideae
Genus : Lathyrus

The genus Lathyrus are the sweet peas and vetchlings, flowering plants in the legume family Fabaceae. There are approximately 160 species of Lathyrus; they are native to temperate areas in both hemispheres and their range extends into mountainous parts of Africa. There are annual and perennial species which may be climbing or bushy.

The genus includes the garden sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus) and the perennial everlasting pea (Lathyrus latifolius). Flowers on these cultivated species may be rose, red, maroon, pink, white, yellow, purple or blue and some are bicolored; they are also fragrant, which makes them a very popular garden plant. Cultivated species are susceptible to fungal infections including downy and powdery mildew. Lathyrus species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Grey Chi, Latticed Heath (both recorded on Meadow Vetchling) and Chionodes braunella.

Other species are grown for food, including L. sativus and L. cicera, and less commonly L. ochrus and L. clymenum. L. tuberosus is grown as a root vegetable for its starchy edible tuber.

The seeds of some Lathyrus species contain a toxic amino acid and if eaten in large quantities can cause lathyrism, a serious disease.

Hello Valerie,
Wonderful close up.I liked POV,colors, details, use of light and composition a lot.
TFS...:-)

Hello Valérie!
Great colours in the frame! I like your pov and framing again! Stalk from right side of the frame made the pov distinct! Blurred green bg got the flower in front of us beautifully. Great composition here! Thank you and best regards!

Bonjour Valerie!

Very, very, very common flower in our meadows, but also very beautifull. I like your composition. Saturated flowers look very good on green. POV, DOF and details are excellent. Interesting note - I remember that one of my shots of these plant was removed from TN as violation of TOS :-) They're very similiar to cultivated pea.

Hi Valerie,
Lovely shot of these beautiful flowers. Great quality, not a hint of noise and great textures and colours. Nice detail, perhaps a little more DOF to bring the other flowers into focus, but that might spoil the background. It's a very pleasing image to view, great work.
Regards,
Adrian

Hi Valerie,
Beautiful saturated colors in this shot. Excellent composition and framing. A good job sperating your subject from the nice OOF backround.
Nice detail with a pleasing fall off in focus.

Hola Valeri,
¡Bonita foto!
Gracias por compartir,
José M.

A lovely shot Valerie,

Good detail, nice bright colours and good sharpness. exposure and lighting are good. The DOF is just right. Good POV and composition.

Thanks for posting, have a great week MF.

Hello Valerie,
Lovely shot! The colours are very strong and look great on the green BG. I like the framing too. I think I would like to have a little bigger DOF though because it seems that only pne flower is in focus. I'm not sure how big DOF would be good for this one though.
WELL DONE!

Ces petites fleurs sont communes dans les talus mais vous, vous avez réussi à les rendre superbes. Belles couleurs et fond agréable qui les fait bien ressortir.
Compliments Valérie

Hi Valerie,
on TL you invited me to look at your TN-Galery, thanks. I loved your collage of insects and the wonderful cat. I also love this flower, they smell so phantastic.
Beautiful colours here, excellent shot.
I'm also a member of both sites, also posted on TE, but there's not enough time for 3 places. Thanks and bye bye

Hi Valerie,
What a beautiful photo with such beautiful colors and DOF. Eventhough a smaller aperture would give a little more details in the flowers further away from the camera, the flowers in the front are well captured and sharp. I think it's time for you to get a good macro lens. I think that you would have a lots of fun with it and will create beauties.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Valerie,
