Mylabris variabilis

This is a Mylabris variabilis, a coleoptera of the meloidae family. Several species look quite similar.
It appears between june and september and can be found in meadows, edges or on flowers.
This picture is one of a series taken in a cemetery in Corse island. The curious thing is that the place was crowded with these bugs, there were dozens of them, always on the same flower... but i never found another one during the 3 weeks i spent around.
Shot was taken with the 420 EX flash with a homemade diffuser, handheld cam. |

This is a great macro and excellent composition Jerome.

a beautiful picture of this beetle in an environment full of numerous soft colours. Surface structure of the wings and tarsal claws are visible. Thank you for posting.
