[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Experimenting with a macro lens, I find it very hard to get complete tack sharp images, especially on "hyperactive" subjects. Here is an hover fly (Diptera Syrphidae) on lavender, unfortunately, I could not get the whole leg in focus.

I use a tripod and remote switch as often as possible. This is often awkward and frustrating but the results are usually better than handheld. Any tip from pros! Smile.

Excellent macro shot of this hoverfly feeding on a flower, good compo, the colours are lovely, I like the way the detail shows up on the flower where the fly is resting but the rest blurs into BG.

P.S. I don't have any tips, because I'm just learning, too. Yesterday I played with the trade between fast shutter speeds and smaller aperatures for DoF. I finally settled on f/11 and about 1/125. That gave me good DoF but seemed a bit slow for active bees.
