Scarce Swallowtail, [Iphiclides podalirius] on lavender flowers.

They seem to be very common here - the english name 'scarce swallowtail' is due to it being a very infrequent visitor to Britan

This butterfly has lost the tip of the bottom left tail-maybe to a predator.

Hi Alison.
This is a lovely shot of a striking specimen.
It deserves more points,but sometimes thumbnails that are a little camouflaged or don't jump out at you don't get looked at so much.

Excellent capture of this magnificent butterfly! The swallowtail is one of my favorite butterflies! Very good composition and POV! The colors look bright and natural and contrast is nice! Great use of DOF! Congratulations and TFS!
