These twins were growing in the heart of the forest, not far from the Boletus satanus that you can see on my previous photo. I have absolutely no idea of their name - I really know very little about fungi. And my old mushrooms book is not a great help. :-) Any help on ID is very welcome !

This again was shot with the little Sony camera, I'm still waiting for my Canon 350D to be repaired... :-(

The Kingdom Fungi includes some of the most important organisms, both in terms of their ecological and economic roles. By breaking down dead organic material, they continue the cycle of nutrients through ecosystems. In addition, most vascular plants could not grow without the symbiotic fungi, or mycorrhizae, that inhabit their roots and supply essential nutrients. Other fungi provide numerous drugs (such as penicillin and other antibiotics), foods like mushrooms, truffles and morels, and the bubbles in bread, champagne, and beer.

Fungi also cause a number of plant and animal diseases. Because fungi are more chemically and genetically similar to animals than other organisms, this makes fungal diseases very difficult to treat.

Plant diseases caused by fungi include rusts, smuts, and leaf, root, and stem rots, and may cause severe damage to crops.

However, a number of fungi, in particular the yeasts, are important "model organisms" for studying problems in genetics and molecular biology.

Valérie, i really missed seeing mushrooms. Unfortunately we have rainless days from long time, so i have no chance to see these days. This is a great shot of these twins. What a beautiful green on the upper part of the bg and the environment of the twins is just wonderful two. Look at that beautiful dried oak leaves. There is also a lively sprout oak. i missed these forest visits for mushrooms, so i hope i get this trips soon. Sorry i have no any identification book in the office, so i can't help to you.
Regards,
Ersin

Hi Valerie.
I have never seen anything similar. With such long legs as at fashionable women it is hard to be located in a shot. You have solved this problem excellently : )).

Composition of your shot is great. Colours, DOF and POV are excellent.
I wish you the prompt recover of your DSL camera.
Regards,
Alexei.

Bonjour Valerie,
lovely shot with a wonderful perspective, it gives those little mushrooms great height. Beautiful composition, sharpness, colors and lighting is wonderful.
TFS..Sky

don't know if you had spotted, but there is even a spiders web joining the 2 together at the top...

Nicely done, good DOF and OOF BG, great colours and great composition and hope your 350D comes back soon.. (What happened to it?) I know I would be lost without mine...

It has been wet and warm here as well and fungi are growing everywhere now...
TFS

Hi Valerie,
It looks like I wasn't the only one noticing the spider web between the two mushrooms. Great colors and good DOF and an excellent low POV. A pitty to hear that you're still waiting on your 350D.

Niek

Hi Valerie,
A unique looking pair of fungi. I love the long slender stems. The overall scene is beautiful. The slightly OOF backround still shows good detail to give a nice sense of scale to them. Well done!
