[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a close-up of a cuttlefis eye showing the characteristic W-shaped pupil. It is considered to be the most evolved eye in the animal world. To change focus the cuttlefish instead of reshaping the lens (like humans and other animals do) it reshapes the entire eye.
Although the cuttlefish is called fish it is actually a mollusc. It has an internal skeleton (the cuttlefish bone). It can change its color to an amazing degree. By means of changing color it communicates to other cuttlefish and also it camouflages. It can also secret ink (in ancient times from its ink was extracted a dye called sepia).
As a curiosity in East Asia dried cuttlefish is a popular snack food.

Please excuse the somewhat poor quality of the picture but it was handheld. Lucky for that trusty OIS.

Hi Catalin
That is a rare representation of something really wonderful, the eye of a cuttlefish. Thanks for the good and well illuminated, sharp image, Catalin.

Cheers
Dietrich
