[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Common Eider, Somateria mollissima, is a large (35-45 cm body length) sea-duck, which is distributed over the northern coasts of Europe, North America and eastern Siberia. It breeds in Arctic and some northern temperate regions, but winters somewhat farther south in temperate zones, when it can form large flocks on coastal waters.

A good close of this bird. Good colour which shows off his markings well. Good focus. Well done.

Hello Biswarup,
A very sharp portrait of this bird with good control of the white exposure and great colour.
I've always wondered what an Eider duck was like, and now I know where real eiderdown actually comes from.

Hello Biswarup,
Amazing colours this bird has and an unusual headshape.
Very good in details and colours.

Thanks,

Hi Biswarup

Another excellent capture of a very intriguing and beautiful bird. This must be one of the best know ducks in the world, but without many people realising that they actually know about the bird. Most anybody know what an eiderdown is, but surprisingly many people do not know or realise that the name was actually coined from a real life eider duck providing the down for the inner insolating material for the well know piece of bedding. Anyway, today’s eiderdowns have anything bud eiderdown inside of it.

I like your portrait shot and the POV of this composition. You show excellent head details and wonderful contrasts in the plumage. The colours are great and the exposure in general was very well controlled. The only nit I might have is the darkish eye. It would have been great if you could have managed to get some reflection or detail of the eye to show.

Anyway, good work and TFS.
Regards
Loot
