[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Early in the morning, one can find resting insects ready for taking pictures. They are not yet busy and it's possible to get very close without disturbing them.
In this case, it was even possible to stabilize the leaf-carrying twig with the fingers of my left hand and the thumb supporting the camera. This allowed me to achieve a sharp picture with a shutter speed of 1/25 sec which was necessary due to the insufficient morning light in combination with a suitable F-Stop.
The picture shows a species of the fly-family
Bibionidae. I do not know the exact species identity.
Body length: about 15mm.
Note the nicely structured antennae.

Hi Peter,
Splendid close-up shot of this fly. Very neat and sharp considering the low light and the shot being taken with one hand. Excellent dorsal POV. The antennae seems to be so special. Very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hello Peter,
Very interesting fly you've captured here, all black! Excellent sharpness and a nice background in this fine composition.
I ought to be out in the wonderful sunshine but it is toooo hot! 30 degrees now! Early mornings and evenings are best for insect hunting but there'll be a shortage of nectar if we don't get some rain soon!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Peter,

salut Peter,
très belle image de cet insect qui semble être en train de bronzer sur cette feuille. Magnifiques détails grâce à une DOF bien ajustée.

Hello Peter,
Excellent close macro of what looks like Bibio marci, but it is rather late in the the year for this species. Fine sharpness, composition and lighting.
Fantastic achievment with the camera practically hand-held.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Nice work with this very small subject Peter.
Great exposure of the black without flash..
Sharp detail, nice BG. Cold-blooded can work in our favor :)

Greatly done.

Dear Peter,
This is really funny that you gave such title for this picture because the Polish name of this fly family is "leniowate" what can be translated like "lazy flies" :>
I like this photo because the following reason:
1. it has very good quality, all DOF, POV, colours, contrast

2. it presents a non-commeracial but still very interesting insect species. And for me it is really much more interesting that watching another Nymphalidae species or colourful dragonfly, even if that insects are also interesting in general.! Bravo for that :>

According to species name I believe that it can be a male of Bibio marci. It is really very similar to this species.
Best withes,
Radomir
