This bug, Graphosoma lineatum (Heteroptera, Pentatomidae) shows an unique eye-catching color pattern. On the underside, it is also red with black dots intead of the stripes. G. lineatum is a mediterranean species which, however, occurs further north, but is absent in north-west Europe. This specimen enjoys the morning sun resting on a leaf.
The length is about 10 mm.
An Olympus Digital Extension Tube EX-25 was used.

Hi Peter,
You have got one of the most well focused and sharp image possible! Color, details and texture are excelent! Very well done!
José M.
PS. Yesterday I shot ths bug so I've found its name :-)
Hello Peter,
Lovely shot! We have lots of these guys here. I noticed they like to hide and that's why I don't have many decent shots of them.
This picture has great colours, not only the bug but also the leaf and BG. Apart from that very good clear framing and nice details. The leaf on the left is maybe a little bit distracting, but that's nothing serious.
I like it!
VERY WELL DONE!
Hi Peter,
Interesting species and well presented. Sharp focused and well composed. The effect of warm morning sun is great for the picture. TFS
