This is an impeccable picture!
I really like all the carefully details got.
The sharpness of the image is excellent, you had a wonderful light that produced that clear details on the feathers.
The illumination got on the head let us enjoy the beak and eye colours, wich makes a great contrast with the rest of the bird's grey tones.
I like a lot the vertical composition made and the DOF, you got a nicely blurred background.

the famous 1-legged heron of frankfurt zoo? *g*
seems they are making themselves at home in the zoos - saw a couple herons flying around in in the cologne zoo a few days ago.
anyway, terrific clear shot with a great pose, good sharpness and wonderful colors.
