Yummi Nut Tree
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| The 'European Nut Tree' can grow really huge - up to 20 meters high and the same size in diameter. They grow everywhere around middle Europe and are spread by birds who pick up nuts and let them drop. Some trees are 200-300 years old and their wood is very hard and a favourite material for quality furniture. The oil in its leaves and nutshells helps keepeing mosquitos away but it distroys all other plants around this tree. The nuts are ready for harvest in September and must get stored and dried at least 3 months before eating. Whoever it was - he couldn't wait for the nuts to fall and didn't mind a bad stomach from eating these leaves. |
